Ministry of Economic Development - New Zealand

Brief : The Ministry of Economic Development needed a way of bringing all the sub-departments under one parent brand and rolling-out a unified look and feel to their digital offerings across a number of disparate ministries.

Overview : Taking exisiting brand collateral designed by Capice in Wellington, a graphic system was produced to unify the parent with the associated 'sub' and 'co' ministries. An information architecture concept, the 'SuperNav', was also developed to tie together the disparate ministries under one offering. This was a unique piece of work fusing both brand stategy, digital strategy and information architecture.

A system of templates were designed for a cross-section of Ministry departments and much attention was paid to managing the copious amount of online documentation and document management systems.

Following the design of the templates, these were executed in HTML and CSS prior to integration into a heavy-weight installation of .Net Content managemnt System EPiServer. The integration was handled by 3rd party technical integrators Intergen after the HTML and CSS development work had been rigorously tested.

Results : The Parent MED website has been designed and was launched in early 2006 alongside the Companies Office - a sub-dept of the MED. ISU, I&T, ESS Departments all followed in 2007 - 2008
