Livemusic.fm

Brief : Atomic Artists Management were looking at ways to promote 5 unsigned bands using the medium of the internet. With the saturation of MySpace and the bands being little known in the wider music scene a different strategy was needed.

Overview : Livemusic.fm provided a platform for not just Atomic's new bands, BUT also for a whole raft of new bands emerging onto the scene. Live music (as opposed to music download sites and music news/gossip) seemed underserved in the UK and no one provider could claim ownership.

Thus Livemusic.fm was born (after a few naming workshops) and branding, layouts and creative concepts for a community site centred around live music, and gig-going, and writing band reviews, was developed.

Development involved extensive IA and research of the audience group (and reviews of the competitors in this space). In September 2007 the site was ready to be launched. As well as targeting SEO acquisition strategies, a launch campaign and competition were devised to promote the site - namely writing an award-winning review to win a brace of tickets to the gig of the decade: Led Zeppelin at th O2 Arena!

The competition attracted a core base of around 10,000 users from which Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and other marketing activities have built upon, and doubled over the past 12 months. In December 2007 Livemusic US site was also launched as a platform to enter the US territory.

Results : A base of 20,000 fans visit the site every month with around 300,000 hits per month and 5,000 registered contributors. Livemusic events will be running in early 2009 and likely ticketing will be included in the site's offering.
